Matt's story was a fascinating tale of perseverance because his successes in athletics were hindered by Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome, a vascular disorder which significantly effects his left leg and back. His love of performing and team dynamics gave him the push to continue through pain, physical limitations, and to exceed all expectations of doctors. The fortitude necessary to achieve these memories allows him an interesting perspective on finding solutions and making tough decisions whether to move forward or evaluate alternatives.

For more than 15 years, Matt was a valued member of the 4th Down Sports and the Before-U-Kick training staff. These organizations taught him many of the mentoring, leadership, and performance evaluation skills that he uses today. Additionally, Matt had tremendous success as the kicking and punting coach at Capital University. In 5 seasons with Capital Football, his athletes earned 3 All-American Honors, 5 All-Region Honors, and 8 All-Conference Awards. When asked to comment on his success as a coach, he says that his greatest achievements were watching his athletes become outstanding contributors to society and college graduates. As they continue to grow, he says he is tremendously proud of the men he coached and the coaches he once called colleagues. His respect for them is not based in their accomplishments, but for who they are as people. He added, "What we do today only matters if we influence people in a positive way; the rest is simply a bonus. These men truly helped me to learn this and helped me learn to live it."

Matt was born and raised in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. In high school, he was a multi-sport athlete and active with performing arts in theater, choir, and broadcasting. With a school record for longest field goal in a game, Matt was recruited as a kicker and punter at Greenville College (IL) and later transferred to Baldwin-Wallace College (OH). All in, he started 34 games for these NCAA Division III institutions. At Baldwin-Wallace College, he also earned a varsity letter in Wrestling at the 190-Pound weight class. His initial attempt towards a 4-Year Biology Degree came up short, but he later started evening classes while working full time in corporate business. In 2008, he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Business Administration (Marketing Minor) from Franklin University. The month after receiving his undergraduate degree, Matt enrolled in Franklin University's Graduate Program, where he completed his Masters in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance in 2009.

Today, Matt lives in a suburb north of Dallas, Texas and works as a Data Architect in an Analytics Team for a large corporate business. He also spends time networking for instructional sessions, working to utilize his NRA Instructor and Certified Texas Concealed Handgun License (CHL) Instructor credentials. Starting in January 2016, Matt is scheduled to be the Public Address Announcer for the Plano West Senior High School Girls Soccer team. While building his career, Matt spent more than 12 years in a corporate finance role for a large technology organization. Matt volunteers his time with local diversity groups, conducting development sessions on Microsoft Office and engaging with corporate teams about the value of knowledge sharing. He openly admits his favorite training sessions include public speaking and developing professional presentations, as well as facilitating career management and employee mobility programs. Throughout the summer, he can often be found riding his motorcycle, on the golf course, or playing with his co-ed and mens softball teams. Although never married, Matt added that he is very proud of his daughter, who in 2013 was awarded the American Degree from the FFA. This highly elite degree represents years of hard work and dedication. Matt shares that she is a driven and competitive individual, who is a tremendous college athlete (Softball and Lacrosse) and Biology / Psychology student at a small college in Ohio. She was the president of her sorority for two years and is extremely active on campus. As an observer, you see the pride in his face as he describes his daughter's accomplishments as a member of her college Senior Homecoming Court, an award winning competitor in the FFA (Shooting), a trumpet player in her high school marching band, an honors student in English and Math, and a fan of music, plays, and musicals. He went on to say that she is a very impressive young lady in life and, regardless of her many achievements, he will forever and always be tremendously proud of her.
